Week 7

The third place play off was played the day before the final. It was between Brazil who lost to Germany and The Netherlands who lost to Argentina. the final score was Brazil 0-3 Netherlands, more heartbreak for the Brazilians as they slumped to a second defeat in a row. The main event was still to come though, it was finally here, The World Cup Final!

The final began and in the 20th minute and Gonzalo Higuain had a great chance to score and a player on his caliber and quality would be expected to score but he misses probably the best chance he would get in World Cup final. Lavezzi then put the ball into the box and he picked out Higuain perfectly he slotted home into the back of the net but the linesman had his flag up and the goal didnt count, it remained 0-0 at half time. The best chance of the second half fell to Toni Kroos be he latched his side foot strike but it went wide of Romero's goal. We were heading to extra time in the World Cup final. Argentina started brightly and substitute Palacio looped the ball over Neuer but the ball didnt reach the net and it remained 0-0. Germany finally found the target after a great goal from their sub Mario Gotze who controlled the ball well and slotted it home, Germany now knew they has one hand on that World Cup trophy and they managed to hold on for the last 7 minutes, Germany were World Cup champions once again. Congratulations to them.
